Programs Benefitting from PTA Funds & Staff
Artist in Residence
The PTA has been able to work with Turtle Lake Elementary School to bring various types of artists in to work with students. These very popular programs have included composer and "Master Drummer" Sowah Mensah from
Ghana, West Africa, as well as Minnesota-based author, David LaRochelle. Assemblies and Special Events
The PTA works with teachers and administrators to sponsor educational and social assemblies for students and/or their teacher, for example Grade Level Family Socials and Family Reading Nights.
Book Festival

Grade Level Project Fund
Funds are available for teachers to work on special projects with other classrooms within the same grade level.
Health Services
Incidental supplies purchased by school health care providers for students visiting the health office.
Helping Hands
Funds available to purchase items (e.g. school supplies) for students in financial need.
Hospitality
Provide a meal for teachers during conferences and other staff-related events.

A social event for parents and students to shop together for new books to encourage reading, as well as a fundraiser for the school library.
Chalkboard Capers
A donation is made to District 621's annual staff variety show. The profits from this show provide scholarships for district students.
Classroom Enrichment
The PTA provides funds to each classroom teacher and specialist to use for items they need or deem important in their classrooms.
Communication Folders
Printing costs for communication folders for each student in Kindergarten - Fifth Grade..
4th and 5th Grade PlannersFunding to buy planners for all 4th and 5th grade students.
5th Grade CelebrationA celebration for 5th grade students on the last day of school. The PTA provides each student with a picture keepsake as well as a day of fun!
Family Engineering NightFunds to support family engineering night.

Physical Education Presidential Awards
Ribbons and certificates of achievement given to students.
Science Fair
Funds to help support the cost of the annual science fair.
School Spirit
Purchase and sell clothing, water bottles, lanyards, etc to promote school spirit.
Special Funding RequestsSome items have included cross country skis, classroom books, Star Lab, and more
Sunshine Fund
Funds to send flowers to students' families in times of death in the immediate family as well as to staff members in times of birth, illness, death, etc.
Thoughtful Thursdays
Paper products and organization of Staff Appreciation days.
Vision and Hearing Screening
Annual student screening, staffed in part by PTA volunteers.
Yearbook
Design, prepare, print and sell the annual yearbook.
